"À table!” is adapted from A.R. Gurney and M. Frémaud’s plays and gathers short, everyday life episodes, funny or moving, all happening in one place: the dining-room.
The dining room is the crucial place of family life where either everyday meals or feasts take place, where people tell secrets or quarrel, where people celebrate reunions or tear each other apart, and sometimes where business is concluded: life-insurance, twenty volumes encyclopedia or seaside resort purchase. Also, in our modern world, the dining room is sometimes deserted for fast-food restaurants. “À table!” takes a humorous and somewhat nostalgic look at this big symbol of occidental society that is the dining room. |
