Et Voilà Théâtre is a French-speaking troupe based in Houston whose mission is to promote the French language through theatrical expression.
Originally founded in 1998 as part of Houston Accueil by Alain Bourgeois, EVT officially became a separate organization in December 2000. Since then, EVT has produced twenty-nine plays, involving directors and actors of many nationalities, all sharing a common desire to speak our language. Some of these plays have been performed in cities other than Houston, such as Dallas and Austin in Texas, and Lafayette in Louisiana. Our plays are one of the main events of the French Cultures Festival, organized by the French Consulate in Houston to celebrate Francophony. Houston enjoys a great cultural diversity. It is natural that EVT has sought to build bridges with non-French speaking communities in the city by projecting English surtitles during the plays and by organizing art exhibitions that bring together artists from different cultural perspectives. In addition to the plays and exhibitions, EVT offers a weekly workshop. The purpose of the workshop, which is taught in French, is to learn theater in a fun way through improvisation, composition, and role-playing in a supportive environment.
