“Autant dire”, let’s admit it, was born, in the midst of a brainstorming, right after our last play. The acting troupe, still bewildered by the charm of the shows, was celebrating happily the end of an adventure. As we recalled the expectation backstage, the audience murmurs while sitting down, the lights turning off, then back on, there it is, here we go…Others, emotional, watched the picture slideshow on a computer screen. An eerie melancholy settled in, the fear of a void was crawling in our minds…We had to accept it: the show was over.
So, to lift our spirits and shoo away the nostalgia, we acted the waiter in a café-theatre, each one of us coming up with the name of a skit or of authors. When we became drunk on words, all the waiters collapsed and there we had our cocktail! “Autant dire” is a divertimento of about twenty skits varying in lengths and in moods, just like our lives and the weather today. 2006 French Cultures Festival official event. |
